Stress Reducers

Image
Stress is a huge thing in many people's life, especially college students. I know I have gotten an overwhelming amount of assignments recently. I'm assuming many of my tech well classmates are in the same boat. Some ideas are listed in this photo.    More ideas for stress relief:  Go for a hike  Go to the gym Go for a run Color  Arts and crafts activities Watch videos My favorite stress reliever is going to the gym and lifting weights. Stress can dampen someone's mood and make it easier for them to procrastinate things and get lazy. It is super important to stay on top of assignments and everything else.

Weightlifting

10/26/2021     I am insanely passionate in weightlifting. The past six months it has become basically addicting to me. I love weightlifting because it is a major stress reliever, as well as it makes me feel good about myself. Seeing progress after a few weeks is the best feeling in the world. My best friend, Scott got me into weight lifting. I wanted to go to the gym and was never sure what to do so he invited me to workout with him. From those workouts I learned enough to start branching out on my own and learning more. This is the first hobby I have ever truly had that I want to continue to learn as much as I can. When I started lifting I spent a ton of time researching workouts, and what different supplements do for your body. One thing I learned is a lot of girls in weightlifting refuse to touch is creatine because they think it will make them too bulky. Creatine won't make you bulky; creatine builds endurance and strength by supplying energy. I also learned BCAAs keep mus...

Transition Achievement Program

10/22/21     Adapted Physical Activity has been a huge part of my life recently and this past semester has turned me into a huge advocate for it. Adapted Physical Activity (APA) is a form of modified physical activity, it allows a person with limitations to participate in physical activity that they otherwise wouldn't be able to participate in. I am currently minoring in Adapted, and considering continuing into the masters program for adapted. This semester (and hopefully in future semesters) I am participating as a volunteer in the Transition Achievement Program through Slippery Rock University. The Transition Achievement Program (TAP) gets high school kids with disabilities ready for life outside of of high school. They work at a job on or near campus, take a class in the morning, go to a physical activity session, and attend a nutrition lesson right before lunch. I volunteer during physical activity and nutrition. Working with this group of students has been life chang...

Importance of Physical Activity

10/21/21     Physical activity is a huge aspect in my life. As a future School Wellness Educator, I make sure that I am a strong advocate for including all students in physical activity. I always make sure to get at least an hour of physical activity in for myself during a day. It has so many beneficial effects on my day. Thanks to physical activity I get a better night of sleep, my days are less stressful, I have more spurts of energy throughout the day. Another benefit of physical activity is it encourages me to eat healthier, there's no way I can allow myself to eat something like McDonalds food after a workout. Physical activity has changed my life in so many positive ways and I hope to improve my students lives through physical activity.
